What do you think about the name Nollywood? Do you think Nollywood would ever acquire Hollywood standards?

To me the name Nollywood has come to stay, because most Nigerian movies are re -ferred to as Nollywood films. If Nigerians are fine with the name then I think we have to adopt it, but I don't I have a say in that. Nollywood films can attain Hollywood standard if we have the same infrastructures and the same capital as Hollywood. you cannot compare movies made with 2 million naira with movies made with 50million dollars. The difference is just too much, but I believe with time, we will have a Hollywood type feature film. We have good directors that can take us to that height Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen is working towards that goal.

What problems have you identified with Nollywood and how are you using your job as a journalist to contribute to finding a solution?

With Nollywood we have monetary problems, infrastructures, Piracy, lack of investments from cooperate firms and the lacklustre nature of the Government. Problems like these don't create any avenue for growth. If the government can create a film village with all the needed infrastructures, that would solve part of the problem. Again the problem of piracy and a very bad marketing system is really killing Nollywood. So many movies are made in Nigeria, but producers especially Independent producers are not making profits, that is if they even realize their investment at all... Same thing with Nollywood movies made here in Europe and America, the independent producer receives little or nothing from the sales, because of poor Marketing and Piracy. So what I am doing as a journalist is to make people aware of the implications of piracy. Again the Nigerian Government should take Nollywood serious and have a pact with Europe and America to curb piracy. By doing this, Producers can start reaping heavily from their movies because there is a very huge market for Nollywood movie in the West.

You are also a musician, when was the first time you realised you could sing?

I had love for music right from when I was young, actually I have been a DJ, for more than 20years, it's what I like doing, but I decided to take it a step further by singing also, and I am currently in the studio working on my album.
